This article is what I used as a guide to develop my engineering portfolio – it is from the book, now on Google Books,
“Inside the technical consulting business : launching and building your independent practice”
Click on the picture to read the article, it is excellent advice on how to get your message across to hiring managers.
You will be one of the very few candidates to have something like this and you will stand out in their minds.

Because I needed some kind of an edge during interviews, I created my own portfolio in the same style that Marc had made for himself. I find it very useful during interviews to not only as a visual reference for the employer/client, but also as an aid to myself to keep track of the various achievements which may be of interest to the employer. The clients seem to be impressed and interested in the portfolio contents, and as the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words.
